Obituary of Jean Strauss
On the afternoon of August 31st, 2015, at 2:30, Betty Jean passed away peacefully at her home of natural causes. Jean was surrounded by her family and loved ones at the time of her passing. Jean was 87 years old. Jean has survived by her five children Kelle Zelaya, Susan Uptain, Karen Janis, Marcy Snyder, Eric Strauss and many grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart.
Jean Strauss was born in Phoenix, Az. Nov 17th 1927. She was the only child but had many friends she considered family. She grew up on a ranch in Phoenix, Arizona. At a young age Jean followed her calling of becoming a registered nurse. After nursing school Jean was hired and worked at St Joseph Medical center. Jean worked as a registered nurse for 37 years before retiring. During her nursing adventures Jean met and married her husband of 25 years, Dr. Fred Strauss who has preceded her in death
Jean was also an advocate of many humanitarian and animal causes. She was a member of the Kiwanis, and volunteered at different animal shelters, and served at the Bread of Life.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday Sept. 12th at 1:00pm, at Parkside Church 401 Camp Lincoln Road Camp Verde AZ 86322.
Jean requested prior to her death, that in lieu of flowers at her service that donations be made to local charities or animal shelters in her name, or just do something nice for someone.
