When I first met dick and marie they were very welcoming. You could tell that they love and respected each other even after all these years of being married.Even towards the end dick was calling Marie honey . Dick told a story about when his kids and terry and Dan went to pick out christmas trees and the kids were getting lost in the snow and he was pulling them out it was so funny and we all laughed. Dick had a nice laugh and a great smile something I think everyone will remember .I know everyone is a little bit better person for knowing him even me for just that short time . My God bless him and hold him and tight.

I always remember Uncle Dick squinting his one eye and chewing on a toothpick. Even now as an adult still think it's cool. I really enjoyed listening to his stories about the military and our family . he was and still is a great man. I never got tired of listening to him or hearing him laugh even seeing him towards the end he was still trying to laugh and tell stories. He was a trooper in still trying to entertain us. His last story to me was about how he took time off from work to see Grandpa. He told me that Grandpa didn't know who uncle Dick was but grandpa was happy to see him. It was hard to hear him but i listened carefully to try to hear every word. I hope uncle Dick was happy to see me. I will truly miss him. Rest in peace Uncle Dick. Love Terry

Dear Dick, One of these days, I will see you again in Heaven. You received that assurance when you prayed with me when I came to see you a few days before you went to Heaven. Now though, I want to tell you that I will miss you very, very much until I see you again. I loved it when the phone rang and it was you on the other end. I have been thinking of passed memories. The early morning drives up to the mountains. The time we ate breakfast in one of the mountain areas and we had our first Hash Brown potatoes. The time you snuck into my bedroom and put on a 45 RPM record you had purchased for me, and turned it up full blast. I sat up from a sound sleep and started yelling at you and then I realized you had bought me a record that I had been wanting (sorry for yelling at you little brother.) When Grandma Knott died, Mom & Marla went to Iowa and Daddy worked nights. Somehow we got locked out. He didn't get home until really late. You and I sat and visited on the porch (by now we were both young teenagers) for a long time and then we both got so tired that we just leaned on each other and fell asleep until he came home to unlock the door. Ohhh and the time before Christmas that we found a place that had so many Christmas decorations for sale. We decorated the INSIDE of the house with all kinds of things that hung from the ceiling (Mom was still in Iowa). Daddy came in in the dark and started bumping into all of the things. He was NOT happy. I remember that he said, "we are NOT having a party." Im not sure WHY we did that but...it was fun but, not as much fun as when we rearranged all of the furniture before he got home. We had moved the couch and....he again wasn't happy when he nearly fell on the floor when he started to sit down. Ohhh, those were fun times Dick. Thank you for being a great brother and for picking out such a wonderful wife. Marie is, and will continue to be, an important part of our lives. Thank you for the memories. I will treasure them ALWAYS!
