Obituary of Donald Leroy Thompson Jr.
Donald L. Thompson Jr., of Cottonwood, AZ, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the age of 59.
Don was born to parents Emilie and Donald Thompson Sr. on July 16th, 1958 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He grew up as the youngest of 3 and went to elementary school in Blaine, Minnesota and graduated high school in Chisago Lakes, Minnesota. He went on to attend Pine City Technical College and studied to be a Machinist. He excelled at many things in his life throughout the years. He had two children, Rachel and Jesse, whom he adored and taught them so much about life. He married Penny Kendrick in 1993 and enjoyed a beautiful and spontaneous life together. He was a fabrication supervisor at a concrete plant up until retiring in 2011. He moved to Arizona 5 years ago and loved every minute of it. Being in the southwest gave him more zest for life. He enjoyed the mountains, camping, BBQ’s with family and friends, and off-roading. His sense of humor and wisdom will never be forgotten.
Don is survived by his wife of 24 years Penny; his daughter Rachel (Mark) Willander; his son Jesse Thompson; grandson Charleston; Mother Emilie; sisters LaVayne (Jack) Bestul and Cheryl (Carl) Brehm; nieces, nephews and many special friends. Proceeded in death by father Donald L. Thompson Sr, and nephew Terry Bestul.
