I remember Henriette fondly.... her elegance, her knowledge, and how she did not suffer fools (haha). She was such a close friend to my mother, Oleta Vermeer, and they loved spending time together, always laughing and sharing some sweet treat with their coffee. They were good friends and neighbors. They both married serviceman, and had a wide circle of friends. May Henriette rest in peace and hopefully, they are friends again in heaven!

Just today, I heard about Henriette’s passing from her son. Henriette would greet my Aunt Ada and me before Mass every Sunday at St. John Vianney Parish in Sedona. She was so friendly and such a bright light. I will miss her kindness and her wonderful spirit. My prayers are for her and her family.

Henriette came to work for Wang/Informatics in the late 80’s. She joined our team as a QA Analyst for the Legal Pro product line. Though there was a 37 year gap in our ages we hit it off immediately...an instant friendship that spanned 30 years.
A couple of my favorite memories:
Expecting our son, and in the last trimester, I was battling extreme fatigue. There were days and times my head was ready to fall on the keyboard. Henriette would check on me hourly...rubbing my neck, shoulders, back and plain old making sure I was breathing and asking, “Are you ok, honey?” Her compassion was above all and I will be forever greatful she was there watching over me.
Our funniest outing was to see Phantom of the Opera at Gammage...in the 90’s sometime and after her massive car accident. We were having difficulty getting good seats....she never used her disability from this accident to her advantage, but this was one night she did. We landed in “handicap” seating and rightfully so, as she was still using a wheelchair. What a majestic evening for both of us.
30 years...there’s a lifetime of memories to share. I’m blessed that this amazing woman came into my life. I thank her for sharing her family with me. I will forever miss her physical presence, but I know she will forever be with me in spirit.
RIP Henriette...

Mom,
So many memories-trips to France, Canada, Mexico and all over the US. So many shared events-boyfriends, concerts, college, shopping, cooking, birth of Vanessa, homeschooling and her graduation from college. So many fabulous meals-your friends, my friends, those without a place to go or alone for the holidays, 8 course French meals and dining on your beautiful patio. I can’t imagine my life without you! It hurts so much that you are gone from me, but I know you are in Heaven, free from pain and sharing your days with Roger and other family and friends.
You are are Angel now, watch over us. I love you with all my heart!

Mom,
So much time we spent together. I have memories of us trimming the roses every year. Watching the birds, your favorite were the hummingbirds. Going to church together. Holding hands with each other. Many travels in the car with Nicole and I. Holding on for dear life with dad driving. So many memories that will always be alive inside me, to sustain me, while you are resting and at peace. You are my number #1 always. I am saddened by your leaving, but I am happy that you are free of the cancer. You are with Roger and family and friends now. I know you will always watch over me, and you will always be in my heart for all the days of my life. My world will never be the same with out you, till we meet again my beautiful angel in heaven. I am proud to be your son, and I know you are proud of me. I love you so much mom.

Mom,
I am fortunate to be your first child. I have memories of us that date back to my being three, maybe four years old, when we lived in a railroad boxcar spotted on a siding in the hilly wilderness of Vernonia, Oregon. Sitting here thinking of you, memories, so many memories, come to mind: Camping in the White Mountains, battling with you over practicing piano, fishing for salmon in Puget Sound, the summer we all went to France together, and more. I miss you but I am happy your battles with cancer are over and that you are reunited with Roger and all of your loved ones.

Dear Henriette,
I will miss you so much. You’ve been like a mother to me since I met you when I was 19 years old. You have always been an inspiration to me and one of the strongest and most caring persons I’ve known. Now you are with your son and my dear friend Roger. You both will always have a large piece of my heart. I will always love you. Your Suzanne

Louis and I are so very sorry that you have had to say the final goodbye to your precious mother. She was a strong, loving, and caring person and you have every reason to be proud of her. Now she is safe in the arms of Jesus. We pray that our Lord will extend His grace and comfort to you as you experience this time of mourning. His promise to you is that you will see her again. "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning." Psalms 30: 5.
