Obituary of Richard Smith

Richard “RC” Smith, 56, of Camp Verde passed away April 24, 2015. He was born November 17, 1958 in Cottonwood, Arizona to the late Scotty Smith, Sr. and Margaret Smith. RC attended Camp Verde Unified Schools. RC worked as a SWFF Wild-land Firefighter for the Prescott National Forest, Hualapai Wild-land Fire Crew and Yavapai-Apache wild land Fire Crew which he helped establish; he was a wild land fire fighter since 1987. He worked for Zellner’s wood yard and Tiffany Construction. He also worked for the Yavapai-Apache Roads Department as a supervisor, a groundskeeper and agricultural laborer for the Yavapai-Apache Farm and Ranch Department. He attended Verde House of Prayer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He devoted his time to the study and practice of Karate. He also enjoyed traveling; having visited all over the United States as well as Italy and the Mediterranean Sea and Hawaii. He is survived by his sisters, Vida Smith, Leona Wathogoma, Nancy Guzman, and Hattie Puggie; his brother, Scotty Smith, Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and relatives. RC will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Visitation will be 5:30 PM Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Verde House of Prayer, Middle Verde Indian Reservation, on Sine Street. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Yavapai-Apache Nation Gymnasium, 2400 W. Datsi Street. Burial will follow the funeral services at the Yavapai-Apache Nation Cemetery.
