I first met Dick and Annette when I went to the ranch looking for an Appaloosa to purchase, around 1990. We bought Key Rocket and that was the beginning of my horse show career! My love of trail class started when Dick took me out on the trails for miles around the ranch, and over every piece of junk he could haul out and put in his trail course at home. It continues to be my favorite class at the shows. Soon after, the kids (all 4 of them!) and I were spending nights at Medicine Man Ranch (MMR) and going to horse shows. My kids all fell in love with the ranch, especially the pond and irrigation ditches! Annette put up w the Bennett clan and our frequent invasions to MMR. We even came home with a turtle from the pond and named him "Mac" after Dick. I also "stole" a dog from Dick, actually he gave him to me after I asked him if I could have his dog, he called him Wolf, we called him Bubba and he was the best dog I have ever had. My family will never forget the loving friendship and life education that both Dick and Annette bestowed upon us. So sorry for your loss... Stephaney

My wife, Shannon, and I shared a wonderful friendship with Dick and Annette for 25 years, although we have grown apart since we moved to Oregon 15 years ago, we still remember them both fondly and will miss Dick.
Dick was important to me as a mentor, colleague, and positive example of excellent surgical practice when I first moved to Flagstaff in 1980 as a new surgeon to the community. Dick was also a prominent Board member of MICA and involved me in the organization as well to ensure that the physicians of northern Arizona would be represented. We enjoyed many hours together traveling to meetings and discussing all sorts of matters, from politics to hospital issues to horse breeding! I will miss his sharp mind, his compassion, and his sense of humor.
Rest well Dick.
