Obituary of Liela Gene Meyers

Liela Gene (Anderson) Meyers was born on April 5, 1928 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, the youngest of seven children. She passed away quietly on November 2, 2016 in Cottonwood, Arizona, after a short illness. Her parents, Ambrose and Liela Anderson, moved their family to Minneapolis when Liela was small and there she spent a happy and memorable childhood. Liela married Howard Edward (Ed) Meyers on December 27, 1949, and the couple moved to Beaver Bay, Minnesota, where Ed taught school. While living in Beaver Bay Peggy Gene, Donna Marie, and Audree Louise were born, and a foster son, Jerry Robinson, was added to the family. In 1960 the Meyers moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, and then to Peru, Nebraska, where Eric Anton joined the family. After moves to Chico, California, and Visalia, California, Liela and Ed finally retired and built a home in Rimrock, Arizona. The family retained many close friends and wonderful memories from each move. Liela was a life-long Methodist and her faith was the rock on which her life was built. She and Ed were hard workers and held various positions in every church they joined. Liela also worked as a bookkeeper, typist, and secretary, and was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and playing games with her family. Liela was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ed Meyers, daughter Audree Pipe, son Jerry Robinson, granddaughter Katy Wescoatt, four sisters and a brother. Survivors include daughter Peggy Lemke and husband Dean, daughter Donna Wescoatt and husband Mark, son Eric Meyers, son-in-law Keeble Pipe, daughter-in-law Sharon Robinson, sister Marian Gabel, brother-in-law Don Wickstrom, twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
