Obituary of Oweda Sampsel
Oweda Sampsel 81, of Cottonwood Arizona, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on July 17,
2020. Oweda was born in Gainesville Georgia on May 5, 1939, one of 10 children, of the late Ralph and
Nora Miller.
Oweda Lived in Southern California and graduated from Bellflower High school and later
married Jaylee Sampsel, seeing 42 years of marriage before his passing in 2003. Oweda retired as
secretary of the Southeast District Bowling Association and moved to Cottonwood Arizona in 1999.
Oweda was an avid quilter and a member of the Quail County Quilters. Oweda was proud of her
volunteer service at the Verde Valley Medical Center where she had put in over 48,000 hours in her 20
years of volunteering.
Oweda is survived by her daughter Lisa (Jack) Gray, grandchildren, Ellanor Lee
Gray and Dylan Lee Gene Sampsel and her siblings Therman Miller and Caroline Lynch, along with
numerous nieces and nephews.
Oweda was a loving caring person that always jumped in to help out someone in need. She was pure of mind and body and always strived to set a good example. She loved to pose for pictures, which generally included one hand on her hip and the other in the air. Oweda was an awesome mom and grandma and she will be greatly missed.
