Robert Ralph Langford 86 of Camp Verde and Sedona left to join the love of his life Ursula on Tuesday October 13th 2020. He was born May 9th 1934 in New Bedford Massachusetts to Robert and Annie Langford. Robert moved to Flagstaff in 1965 with is wife Ursula and youngest daughter Gabi. His oldest daughter was living in Connecticut at the time, she now resides in Sedona. Robert was also a proud Air Force veteran stationed in Germany in the 195Os. He spoke German fluently. Knowledgeable and intelligent with an insatiable desire to perfect his work. He will be best known as a master sculptor and carver of bone, antler and Alaskan ivory. Robert was born to carve. His pieces have been sold by many prestigious galleries and are in private collections around the world. One such being The Rockefeller Collection in Virginia. Also in several private collections worldwide. Working In Sedona over the last 40 years, he has created one of a kind collectible jewelry lines for other companies and some Sedona artists including numerous large and small whimsical, eclectic pieces of Indian and western inspired art that have been mass produced and sold worldwide. These pieces do not carry his name yet they are still easily recognizable by his unique style. Whatever the medium, whatever the design, from colt buckles to carved knife handles on Damascus blades, to delicate music box creations he was was up to the challenge and exceeded expectations. Not a talent that needed to be learned. Robert was born with these gifts. So much more to this gentle giant of a man that was loved and enjoyed by all who got to know him. He lived a full life of adventure with our mom Ursula, never a dull moment at the Langford home! Parties, food, drink, friends, family and more friends. Great stories for all to pass on. After Ursula passed in 2004, dad found love again and married a spirited younger lady from Washington State named Karyn. Although they would later part ways, they still remained dear friends. A very heartfelt and special thank you to all his wonderful caregivers at Haven of Camp Verde. He had the very best of loving care there, from the director Amanda who he adored to his buddy Ecclesia that laughed and joked with him. The every feisty and loving Lucia, to the young compassionate Jayda and ever helpful Jarred. There are more I know, and we thank you all for your care of our dad, grandfather Opa and Opapa these years. Robert leaves behind his daughter Rita and her grandchildren Eva, Janette, and Michael. Great grandchildren Nicholas, Alexa, Gianna and Lincoln. Daughter Gabi and son-law Vernon. Grandchildren Christopher, Renee and Lisa. Great grandchildren Jacob, Britney, Ashley, Ella and Ethan. All had very special, unique, loving relationships with him and held a huge place in his heart. His best friends and biggest supporters played a huge part in his life, keeping him sane and working over the last difficult years with his failing health. Special thanks and love to his best friends Garret, Michael, Tony, Keith and David to name just a few, for being such great friends and mentors. I know there are more and we thank you all dearly. Friends and family will be contacted as to location and time in November. In lieu of flowers and in loving memory of our dad, please donate to a food bank or your local animal shelter. There are so many in need.
