Obituary of Barbara Marie Mayer
Barbara Mayer, teacher, author, poet gently journeyed into the Divine Light on November 6, 2020. Barbara was born and raised in Cicero, Illinois. For 13 years she served as a Sister of Providence teaching in a variety of schools in Indiana. After her time in the convent, she became a journalism teacher at Highland High School in Highland, Indiana. She coordinated the school newspaper and yearbook. For a time she was editor and co-owner of the Highland Press. Her heart called her to her beloved red rocks in Sedona, Arizona. She spent the last 15 years there putting her thoughts into words as she authored her four books, the most recent one being her book of poetry. She lived her gift and freely shared her wisdom as a lecturer, healer and Reiki Master. She is the daughter of the late William and the late Albi Mayer, sister to William (Arlene) Mayer and John Mayer (Carol Nesladek). She is aunt to seven nieces and nephews and great aunt to many more. She is cousin to Berni Mayer and the late Sylvia and Vic Cordes.
