Obituary of Dawn Jackson

Dawn Jackson was born on May 13, 1966 in Orange, California. In 1984 she relocated to Cottonwood. When she met and fell in love with Bruce Jackson, they began a partnership that lasted for 32 years, until her battle with cancer ended on April 30th. They married on July 3, 2003, and together they raised their four children, started two successful businesses, and eventually had 9 grandchildren. Dawn loved all her grandchildren and was delighted in their company, spending as much time as possible with them. She loved fishing, camping, 4-wheeling, and elk shed hunting. She and Bruce also loved to travel, often taking driving trips to Utah, Colorado, and throughout Arizona to camp and fish. They occasionally flew to Washington and Oregon to visit family and friends. In January 2020, they took the overnight train from Flagstaff to Los Angeles to celebrate his 60th birthday, where they fulfilled their dreams of visiting the city’s famous museums and took romantic strolls on the beach at sunset. In the early 2000’s, Dawn quit her 9-to-5 job to take over full-time management of their two businesses. She enjoyed working side by side with her best friend, doing all she could to ensure the success of their businesses. In addition to expertly managing their construction and property management companies, she was a great interior designer, helping Bruce design and install kitchens and bathrooms. She was also a skilled painter and all-around handyman, even operating the backhoe. She and Bruce were inseparable and had a love you could only dream of having with your other half. Dawn was one of those rare individuals who are truly beautiful, inside and out. She never spoke an unkind word about anyone or anything, and when she smiled, she lit up the room. She was universally loving and compassionate to others, traits she displayed throughout her fight with cancer. Even while racked with pain, she would often say, “At least it's me and not a child suffering.” She hated the fact that little kids had to go through the same fight, and boy did she put up a fight! All the way to the very end, she was feisty, funny, independent, and remained concerned about taking care of everyone else. Dawn wouldn’t want us to be sad; instead she’d want you to remember her the next time you have a Dairy Queen or lemon flavored italian ice!
