Bob Burnside

Obituary of Bob Burnside

Former Camp Verde Mayor and resident Robert L. Burnside, 70, died August 14th, 2016, in Camp Verde, Arizona. Bob was born September 11, 1945, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, to Glen and Rose Burnside. He was truly a jack of all trades. Anything he set his mind to he could do, even by only seeing a picture. From the age of 16, he spent his life as a plumber but was so much more than that to so many people. He was a providing and loving husband, a father to be emulated, a mentor to be respected and a teacher to learn from. He worked as a contracting manager and foreman for Darwin and Jeremy Rushton at Yavapai Mechanical for 22 years, opening a local branch in Camp Verde that remained open for over 10 years employing 126 people through the duration. During that time he also proudly served the Town of Camp Verde as Mayor for four years. Prior to Yavapai Plumbing Bob worked for Marlin Mechanical for 10 years, Glendale Plumbing for 10 years and for his father’s company before that. Literally up until his death, Bob could be called anytime to do a job at a fair rate. He didn’t know the definition of “stop”, “can’t” or “won’t”. He is survived immediately by his wife Suzy Burnside, their son Thomas Anderson and his loyal German Shepard, Blitz, who will miss his human. He is also survived by his first wife Joline Burnside, their daughter “Buffy” Casandra Maitlen-Jones, her husband Willis Jones III and their children Cole Maitlen and Willis “PJ” Jones IV and their son, Joe Burnside, his wife Kasi Burnside and their son Joey Burnside. He is further survived by his second wife Carol Mahurin, their daughter Jeri Sue and her children Austin and Cody. Bob was a dear friend to many and is also survived by all the people whose lives he was fortunate enough to touch. No services or memorial will be held as Bob was a bodacious, private man. However, any assistance rendered to youth wanting to learn plumbing or trades would certainly be a nice memorial to Bob. He will be missed.
