Obituary of Michael Albert Lange

August 15, 1952 – August 9, 2021

Michael Albert Lange passed away peacefully from breathing complications caused by ALS on August 9, 2021 in the hospital in Cottonwood, AZ.  His loving wife, Brenda; his daughter, Amanda, and stepdaughter, AnnMarie were by his side until he drew his last breath. Grandson Brady was close by.
 

Mike was born August 15, 1952 in Union Lake, Michigan to Melba (Watson) Lange and Albert Lange. He was in a rush to get here and was born at home. He was delivered there by his grandmother Daisy Watson and his Aunt Shirley Naubert.

 Mike resided in Cottonwood, AZ He particularly enjoyed laughing with his wife, Brenda. Mike loved animals, the outdoors and was gifted in sports – golf and basketball were favorites when he was younger. He was interested in history – especially family history and was working on a book about his father’s (Albert Lange) experiences in WWII. He wrote a delightful children’s book. He could also play the guitar and sing. He was active until the very end. He handled his ALS diagnosis, which he received in April of this year, with great courage, care for others and strength.

Mike proudly served four years in the U.S. Navy after graduating from Walled Lake Central High School in 1970. After serving in the military, he took classes at Oakland Community College. He worked at Vernors, was an electrician, and worked for American Express Travel (where he met his wife, Brenda) until he retired a few years ago.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Melba Lange. He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda who cared for him til the end; daughter Amanda Lange Flechtner and her husband Kevin (Avery and Brady). He is also survived by Stepdaughters Ann Marie & Oliverio Avelar, (Brett Speckman, Brook & Clayton Brenner) and Denise & Jeff Klemczak (Fabianna, Carly, & Felix) He is also survived by his sister Sandra Lange North and her husband, Thomas, and their family (Michelle, Cliff, Nicklas McConnaughhay and Renee & Matt Wilkes).

Mike is already very much missed. He was a kind, gentle man who always had an interesting tale to tell. Gone too soon.
 

No funeral service is scheduled due to the prevalence of COVID-19. A Memorial Service may be scheduled at a later date.
