I am so sorry to hear of Bettys passing. I loved both Howard and Betty, they were a team and it does not surprise me it didn't take long for Betty to join her sole mate. Betty had such a beautiful smile and her door was always open. I met them as a small child when they had Appaloosa horses and they were so proud of them! Betty had this glitter in here eyes that were contagious. She never met a stranger and the door was always open. Years after I had left the valley, I returned during Verde Valley Days and of course there was Howard in the parade in his cavalry attire and betty not too far away on a float. They were an amazing team and will be missed by all especially those who have deep roots in Camp Verde! Loved them both.

Betty will be missed. My mom, Aliene New, worked with Betty at the CV post office for many, many years. They were good friends. Betty got my mom to join and ride with the Saddle Bags. Betty was a lot of help to me with guidance and knowledge in horseback riding. She and Howard were a big part of fine tuning my skills to go on to win both runner up and the following year, the Colonels Daughter annual Fort Verde competition. I'm thankful Betty was in our lives and a good friend of my mom. I hope her family will find some comfort in knowing she is now in a better place and amongst many old friends.
