Obituary of William Kenyon Patton
William “Chip” Kenyon Patton, 73, of Sylmar, CA, passed away on October 5, 2021. Born March 9, 1948, in Annapolis, MD, Chip was the oldest of four children and only son of the late William C Patton and Margaret K Patton.
Chip attended Twenty-Nine Palms High School in Twenty-Nine Palms, CA, where he earned a full scholarship for swimming to the University of Utah.
Chip was predeceased by his loving wife of 35 years, Colleen Moore, with whom he raised three wonderful sons in beautiful southern California. Chip loved to cook, garden, and take care of his near-acre-sized property in Sylmar, CA.
Chip was a dedicated and hardworking elevator and escalator mechanic until Alzheimer’s made it too difficult to continue. He was well known for his expertise and served as a mentor to his peers as well as his sons Casey and Shane, who also worked in the field.
Chip was someone you could count on when you needed him. He will be dearly missed but not forgotten.
Chip is survived by his three sisters, Margaret “Peggy” Patton of Brookings, OR, Susan P Sebert of Covina, CA, Anne P (Eric) Baugh of Big Fork, MT; his three sons Shane (Michelle) Patton of Santa Clarita, CA, Casey (Maureen) Patton of Santa Clarita, CA, and Deric (Christina) Patton of Pflugerville, TX; and six grandchildren McKenna, Carli, Chesson, Clara, Jake, and Connor.
Chip has requested an intimate scattering of his ashes by the family; no official services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Chip’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
