Obituary of Lorrie Jean Barksdale

Lorrie Jean (Tyrrell)Barksdale age 65, passed away April 1, 2022 at home after a short illness. Lorrie was born on January 5,1957 in Beverly, MA to Howard and Elaine Tyrrell. She moved with her family and lived in many lovely New England towns as she grew up including Danvers, Andover, Needham, Westboro and Shrewsbury all in Eastern MA. Graduation from High School was in Westboro. She continued her education at The University of Rhode Island and Babson College in Wellesley, MA where she graduated with a degree in Business.

Lorrie worked at Don’s Donuts while high school and felt a special kinship to restaurants and the hospitality industry. She worked at a few jobs in various industries after college.  She moved to the Phoenix, AZ to be closer to her older sister and to check out what AZ had in store for her in industry that she loved.  Lorrie held many positions in her 18 years with the Pointe Resorts. She met her husband, Russ Barksdale, while working there.

Lorrie and Russ moved to Northern Arizona living in Sedona and the Cottonwood where they currently reside. They had a busy life working, enjoying their pastimes and co-parenting 2 sons, Jonathan and Brett. They created happy memories of many trips during their marriage. In addition, Lorrie was an avid reader and loved to curl up with her cats and a good book.

Lorrie is survived by her husband of almost 30 years, Russ, her sister Kathleen Wack, her brother, H. Sherman Tyrrell and his wife, Debra, her stepson, Jonathan Barksdale, his wife Heidi and daughter, Gwen Evelyn, her stepson, Brett Barksdale, his wife Kristen and their children, Elijah, Micah and Josephine. Other loved ones include her niece and husband, 2 nephews, 3 great-nephews, a great-niece, and many close cousins and valued friends. Memorial donations in honor of Lorrie’s life may be made to Accord Hospice, 2155 W. State Route 89A, Ste. 206, Sedona, AZ 86336.
