Obituary of Bob Lee Horath
Bob Lee Horath, of Camp Verde, Arizona, passed away at home on September 2, 2014. He was born on June 24, 1938 in Oklahoma, the son of Oscar (Jack) and Alice Horath. He was raised and received his education in Enid.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and served for ten years before his Honorable Discharge. While in the service Bob was stationed in Goodyear, where he was united in marriage to Holly (Conaway) Horath in 1959.
Following his discharge his family moved to Phoenix in 1966 and began working for the Phoenix Police Department. Bob worked as a Patrolman for 4 years, a Detective for 2 years and later as a Bomb Technician for 24 years until his retirement in 1996. Following his retirement, they moved to Camp Verde, where Bob spent his time as a competitive shooter and teaching CCW Classes as well as general gun safety classes until 2010.
During his life he enjoyed shooting in firearm competitions, panning for gold in Yarnell and fishing. He also enjoyed riding motorcycle’s which he did until he was well into his sixty’s. He also enjoyed spending time at his home with Holly that was built by family and friends.
Bob was a member of the Sun Dog Shooters as well as a lifetime member of the Prescott Action Shooters. He took pride in bringing together shooters from Camp Verde.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Douglas Horath.
Survivors include, Holly, his best friend and wife of 55 years; his two children, Teresa and Stephen; his 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
