Obituary of Vern Jorgenson

Vern Jorgenson, 82 (Sept. 26, 1933 – June 7, 2016) Vernon L. Jorgenson, 82, of Sedona, AZ, formerly of Austin, TX, died on Tuesday morning, June 7, 2016 in Cottonwood. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Mingo; his 2nd wife, LaVohn (Burley) Jorgenson; his daughter-in-law, Marian Pinto-Jorgenson; his half-brother, Keith Alexander; his brother, Kenneth Jorgenson; and his parents, Otis Jorgenson and Lotella Stemple. He is survived by his children Tim Jorgenson, Stacey Jorgenson, and Scott (wife Lee) Jorgenson; and his stepchildren Tina (& Chris) Mingo, Debbie (Mingo) Gale, Michael (wife Molly) Mingo, Toni (husband David) Mace and Kathy (husband Guillermo) Manriquez. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and his 1st wife Tilly Jorgenson. Vern felt very fortunate to have an exciting new chapter in his life with Marie in Sedona. He was well liked due to his friendly, generous, and loving nature. He had a fulfilling and rewarding lifelong career with Farmers Insurance and as an Administrative Services Manager, he mentored many employees. He was highly involved with Public Relations and Governmental Affairs with the Texas Insurance Industry. He was a former president of St. Vincent de Paul, Sedona Conference and was honored to receive the Jubilarian Certificate of Appreciation. He was a member of the Sedona Elks Lodge. He enjoyed dancing, socializing, golfing and bowling. Vern and Marie were very active bridge players at the Sedona Bridge Center and occasionally attended national competitions. The family would like to thank Arizona Care Management Solutions, Aviant Hospice, and The Hillsman House for providing exceptional care during Vern’s final weeks. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 180 St. John Vianney Lane, Sedona, AZ 86336, on Friday, July 29 at 10:00 a.m. Interment of ashes will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul and sent to St. John Vianney Church at the address above.
