Obituary of Dash Allen Cody Cheatham
Sgt. Dash Allen Cody Cheatham, passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving wife and family at his home in Cottonwood, Arizona, on Monday, August 22, 2022, at the age of 31 years old after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
He was the son of Roger Allen Cheatham, of CA, and the late Susan Mae Carter of Cottonwood, AZ. Dash was born in Santa Maria, CA on August 27,1990. He moved to Cottonwood, AZ until he was 17, when he graduated from Mingus Union High School and enlisted in the United States Army. Dash did his basic training in Fort Leonardwood Missouri, then was stationed in Korea, Fort Stewart Georgia, and Fort Carson Colorado, before moving back to Cottonwood in 2016. Dash was a Sergeant in the United States Army and served honorably from 2008 - 2016.
Sergeant Cheatham served in Afghanistan in 2012 and 2013 and has received numerous awards and medals in his years of service, including The Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 2 stars, The Army Commendation Medal (2), Army Achievement Medal (2), Army Good Conduct Medal (2), National Defense Service Medal, Foreign Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, his Non-Commissioned Officer, and NATO medal. Sergeant Cheatham also received ribbons in his honor for Professional Development, Army Service, Overseas Service (2), and Certificate of Achievement (4).
Dash is survived by his loving wife, Gianina whom he married in 2014, and was the proud dad to his son Braxton, age 6, and his daughter Isabella, age 4. He also leaves behind his sisters Donna Cheatham of Arroyo Grande, CA, and Jessica Cheatham, of Camp Verde, AZ.
Dash had an extended family that were very close to him and will miss him very much. They include his father-in-law Gary SanGiovanni, his mother-in-law Janice SanGiovanni, both of Cottonwood, and his three brother-in-laws, Nic SanGiovanni & (Kyla) of Cottonwood, Jon-Marco SanGiovanni of Glendale, AZ, and Zach SanGiovanni of Cottonwood. He will also be remembered by his numerous other family members, including but not limited to, a Grandmother, Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and many close friends.
Dash's Military Honors Ceremony will be held on Sunday, September 18th at 2:00 pm at C3 of Cottonwood, located at 1580 E. Fir St., Cottonwood, AZ 86326
